We are pleased to inform you about the progress in the construction of the project “Comprehensive Center for Child Care with Cancer and Palliative Care” that is promoted in conjunction with the Honduran Foundation for Children with Cancer. It is located in the neighborhood Alameda de Tegucigalpa. This project includes the construction of a specialized care center for children with cancer, the first of its kind in Honduras.
The facilities will have adequate spaces to provide psychological support, pain therapy, medical support and spiritual comfort for patients and their families. CEPUDO, through the financial collaboration of Food For The Poor, has been present in this project supporting the construction of the building.
The Fundación del Nino con Cancer will give continuity to the project until it is completed, including hydro sanitary and electrical works, equipment and other necessary finishes for its operation. So far, and despite all the situations that we have experienced in our country, we have already completed 80% of our part in this project that will greatly benefit minors who suffer from this disease.
The center will provide access to comprehensive quality medical care where parents will be trained on pain management, specialized nutritional intake, therapies and care for their minors. The project’s main objective is to maximize the quality of life of patients and incorporate new procedures to support cancer treatment. This includes improving the care of palliative children through pain management.
The Center will also provide training to parents and relatives on how to care for their son from home, in the hope that he can return home and strengthen the family nucleus.
